Xbox Games Showcase Summary

It’s now 3AM AEST and our first real look at first party Xbox Series X games has finally happened. Over the course of a roughly one hour show, Xbox showcased some of the upcoming games we can expect to see on Xbox Series X. We got a good look at a few different first and third-party games, giving us a good glimpse of the future of Xbox. Were you too busy sleeping? Lucky for you we got up in the middle of the night to not only watch the show but put together this Xbox Games Showcase Summary for you!

Along with the official show, there were also a number of announcements prior to the official showcase as part of Geoff Keighley’s official pre-show stream, so without ado, let the Xbox Game Showcase summary begin (with trailers for games where available)!

Pre-Show Announcements

  • Exomecha, a new first-person shooter coming from Twisted Red.

  • Another new look at Watch Dogs: Legion, with a brand new cinematic gameplay trailer showing off some more of the gameplay mechanics you can expect to see in the game.

  • Hello Neighbor is back again, with the announcement of Hello Neighbour 2.

  • Then, it was on to a montage trailer for ID@Xbox, with a variety of different games shown off, including Tunic and The Artful Escape.

Main Show Announcements

 

  • Next up was the reveal of State of Decay 3 from Undead Labs and a return to zombies and death.

  • Then, it was on to Forza Motorsport, which looks to potentially be a reboot of the franchise, with no number attached to the title.

  • We continued on to Rare, who showed off our first true look at Everwild, which looks to be a fantastic story-based adventure.

  • Now, we got out latest look at Tell Me Why, with the game’s first chapter launching in August.

  • Remember the utterly fantastic Ori and the Will of the Wisps? Well, it’s coming to Xbox Series X in 4K 120fps!

  • The Outer Worlds was next, with the reveal of the game’s story DLC Peril on Gorgon.

  • The Obsidian block continued, with a brand-new trailer released for Grounded, their new survival game that enters Early Access/Game Preview on July 28th.

  • Then, the Obsidian block STILL continued, with the announcement of a brand-new RPG from the studio titled Avowed.

  • Interior/Night is a brand-new studio working on a game titled As Dusk, an interactive drama that looks very reminiscent of recent Telltale Studios games.

  • The show must go on, of course, with a new look at the Xbox Series X version of Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

  • The third-party block is continuing, with the announcement that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is coming to Xbox Series X as a console launch exclusive.

  • Next was a very, very short glimpse at a new Warhammer 40k game, Darktide.

  • Love Tetris? Well, Tetris Effect: Connected is finally coming to Xbox in Holiday 2020!

  • Then Steamworld developers Image & Form took to the screen to show off their new 3D game, The Gunk.

  • Now was a block of previously announced free to play games getting ports, with both Phantasy Star Online 2 and CrossFire X coming to Xbox Series X.

  • Finally, we came to the end of the show, and something that has been long rumoured and hoped for by many, many people, including myself. That’s right, Fable is coming back!
