December 1, 2013

December is finally here, which means it’s time to prepare Christmas presents and game of the year lists.

  • NCSoft are giving away no less than 5000 copies of Guild Wars 2. The catch is that you have to take the Guild Wars 2 Oath on-camera and send it to them. If that’s not quite your thing, the game itself is on sale for 40% of its regular price.
  • Curt Schilling, former baseball star and creator of the ill-fated Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning believes that Amalur is a billion dollar franchise, just waiting for the right developer to make it work. The assets of 38 Studios, including the Kingdoms of Amalur IP go up for auction on December 11.
  • Ashes Cricket 2013 has received the unusual indignity of being cancelled after launch. Publisher 505 Games announced that the game would be pulled from the market, and that all future work on the title would be abandoned. The game, from Melbourne-based Trickstar was, by all reports an unplayable mess, and it beggars belief that it was even released in the state it was.
  • The 2013 Saxxy Award winners have been announced, and you can enjoy the excellent winning video, “Lil’ Guardian Pyro”, below:
