Star Wars Squadrons Announced

June 13, 2020

It’s been a bit of a roller caster ride sine EA licensed the Star Wars IP in an exclusive 10-year deal with Disney back in 2013. Since then we’ve only seen a total of three games released (Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Battlefront II and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order), while the number of controversies (Such as the aggressive Star Wars Battlefront II microtransactions) and cancellations has reached a higher number. Things looked to be moving in the right direction last year, however, with the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which Joseph loved according to his review, things look to moving in the right direction. EA is looking to make the most of that momentum, with the announcement of Star Wars Squadrons on their Twitter account.

Originally leaked via the PlayStation Store under the name of Star Wars: Project Maverick earlier this year, the game has been known about in an unofficial capacity for some time so far. Details from EA are scarce, with only a key art image and a date for a reveal trailer announced as yet, but we can glean some details from the title and image, which imply we’re likely looking at a space combat game. Are you looking forward to taking control of X-Wings and taking on the Empire? Well, it looks like Star Wars Squadrons could be the game for you.

The reveal trailer for Star Wars Squadrons will go live at 1AM AEST on Tuesday at the following link, so keep your eyes peeled for more details!
