The Nintendo Direct presentation for this year’s E3 wasn’t quite as comprehensive as many were expecting. There was no mention of a new Metroid Prime and nary a trace of any upcoming Nintendo 64 Classic consoles. However, one title in particular received a huge blowout, and it’s the only one many fans care about – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate looks set to be the biggest game in the series ever, but also titles were also announced, including a new Super Mario Party for Switch, and the long suspected port of Fortnite.
Here’s the full rundown from the Direct!
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate received a blowout of information, that’s too extensive to list here. It has every fighter ever featured in the series, and is set for a 7 December release this year.
- Cel-shaded mech game Daemon x Machina was announced with a beautiful new trailer
- New DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Torna: The Golden Country was unveiled and set for a September release.
- Super Mario Party was announced, a brand new entry into the series that uses multiple Switch consoles in interesting ways
- Fire Emblem: Three Houses was revealed for a 2019 release on Switch
- Fortnite was announced for Switch and will be playable on the console for free later today.
- Overcooked 2! was announced for a 7 August release on Switch
- Killer Queen Black is an interesting retro-styled game, due for release on Switch first later this year
- A new demo for Octopath Traveller will be available on 14 June on the Nintendo eShop, the full game is out on 13 July.
- Adelaide-developed Hollow Knight is out today on the Nintendo eShop for Switch
