Pyra Blazes Into Super Smash Bros Ultimate

February 18, 2021

It was always known that today’s Nintendo Direct would include an update on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with the obvious assumption being that we would receive a new character to join Min Min, Steve and Sephiroth in the second Fighters Pass for the game. Now, it’s been revealed that Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 would be making their way into the game.

Pyra and Mythra are another pair of sword users, something that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate isn’t lacking already, but they have a unique twist that other fighters don’t: you can freely switch between then during battle. This isn’t two reskinned fighters, instead their shifting is part of the gameplay itself. They have access to an array of their attacks from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and their ultimate attack involves linking up with Rex to unleash their ultimate attacks on their enemies.

Check out the trailer below to see Pyra and Mythra in action.
