Pokemon Sword & Shield Isle of Armor Release Date Announced

June 3, 2020

Originally announced earlier this year during a Nintendo Direct, we knew that Pokemon would be steering away from the third game release strategy they had followed for years with Pokemon Sword & Shield. Moving to a DLC model left some unknowns around just how the content will be handled, but we also didn’t know when it would be release. One of those questions has now been answered, with a trailer going up on the Japanese Pokemon Youtube channel overnight announcing that the Isle of Armor DLC will release on June 17th.

Along with the release date announcement, a number of new Galarian-form Pokemon were also shown off during the direct. We got the typings for Galarian Zapdos (Fighting/Flying), Moltres (Dark/Flying) and Articuno (Psychic/Flying), and also got our first look at Galarian Slowbro. Needless to say, there’s sure to be more surprises as you explore through the Isle of Armor, as Gamefreak are notorious for only showing a small compliment of the Pokemon that will appear in a game.

Pokemon Sword & Shield: Isle of Armor releases exclusive for Nintendo Switch on June 17th. In the meantime, you can check out more details by watching the trailer above or checking out the official website here.
