Here’s Everything You Need To Know For The Aussie PS5 Launch

September 17, 2020

After months of wait, PlayStation has finally given us what we’ve been waiting to know about the PS5 and its launch. We’ve got a release date, a price, a slate of first party PS5 launch games and more. It really is beginning to feel like the next console generation is upon us.

While we know a hell of a lot more now than we did even a couple of days ago, the information released by PlayStation has come from a  few different sources, with no one singular piece of news containing all of the details. So, we’ve pulled together all of the details for the PS5 launch into one singular article for you. So, without further ado, here’s everything you need to know for the Aussie PS5 launch.

Price

Similarly to the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation is taking a split approach to this generation with two different consoles released at different price points. There’s been plenty of speculation around the console pricing, but PlayStation has matched the Xbox Series X pricing at $749.95 for the regular PS5. Don’t need a disc drive? In that case, have a $150 discount, with the PS5 Digital Edition coming in at $599.95.

Release Date

Well, November is going to be a hell of a time, with the PS5 confirmed to be releasing on November 12th. That’s only two days after the Xbox Series X launch day, so expect shops all around the world to be incredibly busy during that time. It also means the PS5 comes out right before Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War and Cyberpunk 2077 release.

Preorder Date

PlayStation confirmed after the PS5 Showcase was finished today that preorders would open tomorrow, however some stores have already started listing the console, accessories and games for preorder. If you’re super keen to get in quickly, hop on over to EB’s website, where they have consoles, controllers, headsets and more up for preorder right now.

PlayStation Plus Collection

Announced this morning, the PlayStation Plus Collection is a new benefit coming to PlayStation Plus for the PS5. In a nutshell, think of it as a mini Game Pass, with a selection of ‘generation defining’ PS4 games for you to play on your new console at launch. The below games have been confirmed for this service so far:

  • God of War
  • Last of Us Remastered
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  • InFamous: Second Son
  • The Last Guardian
  • Ratchet & Clank
  • Persona 5
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • Bloodborne
  • Days Gone
  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Fallout 4
  • Battlefield 1
  • Until Dawn
  • Monster Hunter World
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • RESIDENT EVIL 7
