First Worms Rumble Gameplay Footage Emerges

July 18, 2020

Worms Rumble

Worms Rumble was announced just a couple of weeks ago as part of the new PlayStation Indies initiative headed by Shu Yoshida. The game is a departure from past Worms games, moving away from the turn-based strategy roots of that franchise. Instead, the game is a 2.5D real-time multiplayer shooter, with a variety of different moves. Up until now we haven’t had a good look at just what Worms Rumble gameplay would look like, but that’s changed thanks to IGN.

This good look at game comes courtesy of 11 minutes of beta gampleya footage posted on IGN’s Youtube channel. It shows off the fast and frenetic Worms Rumble gameplay we can now expect, and also confirms some early thoughts we had about the game. The gameplay footage focuses in on the more basic weapons from the Worms franchise, with little to none of the more charming and weird ones shown. That means no sheep or fire punch as far as we can tell. Instead, the focus is on weapons like the bazooke, shotgun and assault rifle. The footage also showed none of the terrain destruction Worms is known there. There’s the potential that terrain destruction will come later, but we’re thinking this might just be a design choice for the game.

Worms Rumble releases later in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Check out the trailer below, and for more information head on over to the official website.
