Creaks from Amanita Design Releases This Month

July 2, 2020

I’ve been a big fan of Amanita Design ever since I played Machinarium way back in 2009. They had been around for years at that point, previously developing games like Samorost, but it feels like Machinarium was their big break that truly catapulted them into the mainstream gaming media landscape. Since then, they’ve released a bunch of different interesting point and click adventure games like Chuchel and Pilgrims, going from strength to strength as they did. Their latest game is Creaks, which was announced back in 2018 with no release date and not a whole lot of details. That’s just changed, with the release of a launch trailer for the game, ahead of its launch later this month.

Unlike past Amanita Design games, Creaks isn’t a point and click adventure game, but a platforming adventure game featuring a fantastic hand-drawn looking art-style. There are still scant few details on just what the story in Creaks encompasses, but what we do know is that the game will have you exploring a subterranean world filled with monsters, while you solve puzzles in an effort to avoid death from monster hands. The launch trailer shows a good variety of the different types of monsters you’ll find in the game, along with a few of the different puzzles you can expect to encounter.

Creaks releases for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this month, with no specific date set. For more information, check out the game’s official website.
