Spelunky 2 Release Date Announced

August 10, 2020

We have some massive fans of Spelunky over here at Rocket Chainsaw and we’ve been desperately waiting for more news on Spelunky 2 ever since it was announced back in 2018. Developer Derek Yu has been relatively quiet about the game ever since he revealed he was working on a sequel to his classic, with only a short reveal trailer to give us a glimpse of the game. That’s changed, with a fantastic new trailer revealed at State of Play showing off some of the great new additions to Spelunky 2, along with the game’s release date.

We now know that Spelunky 2 will release on September 15, just over a month from now. It’s a much shorter turnaround that we expected between release date announcement and release, but we’re  certainly not complaining. We also got a look at some of the new weapons and features we can expect in the game. We got a glimpse of a Clone Gun, which was being used to clone pugs, a flamethrower, turkeys and more. Traps looked even more dynamic than in the past, while the game’s signature difficulty seemed to be on point based on the trailer.

We can’t wait to get our hands on Spelunky 2 when it releases exclusively for PlayStation 4 on September 15th.
