F1 2018 Release Date & Details Announced

May 16, 2018

Codemasters has today officially announced F1 2018, this year’s iteration of the official FIA Formula One World Championship games, in a franchise that has been getting better each year. We can also reveal the F1 2018 release date, as well as some new details on what to expect in this year’s version.

We have learnt that some fan favourite classic formula 1 vehicles will be added to the game, and a highly requested feature that was left out of last year’s F1 2017 will return to the series. Much more information will be revealed closer to launch, and hopefully we’ll be getting some gameplay footage at this year’s E3 2018 which is just around the corner.

F1 Franchise Director at Codemasters Paul Jean had this to say about the announcement of F1 2018:

We were delighted by the reception that the highly-acclaimed F1 2017 game received, and are extremely excited to be able to further build on such a strong starting point with F1 2018” said Paul Jeal, F1 Franchise Director at Codemasters. “Over the past few years we have engaged heavily with our fan-base to understand what is important to them, and we cannot wait to unveil more details on features we know our fans will love. Career mode has been further expanded to immerse players even deeper into the world of F1 than before, with the return of a highly requested feature back into the franchise. We are also adding more classic cars, again listening to our fans as to which of the historical F1 cars they would most like to virtually drive next. Outside of those headline additions there are many other great enhancements to be revealed before the game launches.

Rocket Chainsaw reviewed F1 2017 when it launched in August last year, giving it 4.5 stars, calling it “hands down the best F1 game of all time.” It will be interesting to see how they improve on it this year.

The F1 2018 release date will occur on the same week as the Formula 1 2018 Belgian Grand Prix, launching on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC platforms on August 24, 2018. Head to the official Codemasters F1 2018 blog for more information here.
