Animal Crossing: New Horizons Gets An Update Tomorrow

April 22, 2020

There is absolutely no doubt that I loved my time with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and that has continued as I’ve jumped into my island everyday since my review went live and kept living my best island life. Of course, giving my personal refusal to time travel, I feel like I’m starting to run out of new things to explore. Thankfully, Nintendo obviously knew that this was going to happen, and have announced a massive update coming to the game tomorrow, as well as the next 4 in-game events to look forward to.

As far as brand new, ever-present content goes, two new stores and their respective shopkeepers and wares are being introduced to island life. Do you love flowers and trees, but wish you could work with more plants on your island? Well, Leif and his Garden Shop are here for you. Along with Leif’s visiting store comes bushes and shrubs, which you’ll be able to deck out your island with some beautiful hedging and leafy, flowery foliage.

Are you more of an art connoisseur? Well, Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler has got you. Jolly Redd will occasionally dock his boat at the secret beach on your island (the tiny one right at the top of your island) to sell you some in-game art and unique colours of furniture. You’ll need to figure out which art pieces are real and which are forgeries, with any genuine art able to be donated to Blather’s Museum and triggering an art gallery wing to be opened.

There are also four brand new seasonal events coming, as below:

  • Nature Day (April 23rd to May 4th) – You’ll be able to take part in special new nature themed Nook Miles challenges, like planting trees and watering flowers.
  • May Day Tour (May 1st to 7th) – You’ll get a one-time May Day Ticket that will take you to a unique mystery island, which houses a special visitor that you might recognise.
  • International Museum Day (May 18th to 31st) – You’ll take part in a Stamp Rally, earning stamps on your special stamp vard by viewing insects, fossils and fish at the museum, all to collect a special in-game reward.
  • Wedding Season (Just 1st to 30th) – Visit Harvey’s Island and you’ll find Reese and Cyrus celebrating their wedding anniversary. Help arrange and take anniversary photos with them in the wedding-photo studios, and earn wedding-themed items as a reward.

There are more updates to come for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so stay tuned for more announcements and check out the update trailer below.
