Judgment Sequel Lost Judgment Announced

May 8, 2021

If you’ve been following the Yakuza series over the years, you’re likely no stranger to 2018’s Judgment. A spin off of the Yakuza franchise, Judgment instead focussed on the life of a former defense attorney who resigns from his position after seemingly clearing a guilty man of murder. It played and felt much like a traditional Yakuza game, with maybe not quite as much emphasis on investigations as some would have liked. With that said, the game was still an interesting direction for the Yakuza franchise and one we hoped we would see more of. Now, after a countdown and a PSN leak, Sega have official revealed that the game will receive a sequel titled Lost Judgment.

Once again, you’ll take control of Takayuki Yagami who, along with his ex-yakuza partner Maraharu Kaito,  investigates a tangled web of conspiracy amidst a broken law system. The game will take place across Kamurocho, the city known for being the main focus of the Yakuza series, as well as Ikincho, the new location introduced in Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

Beyond the direct announcement of Lost Judgment, Sega also confirmed that the game will continue the same action combat style of the previous game, unlike the Yakuza series which has switched to a turn based RPG system.

Lost Judgment will release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S worldwide on September 24th. For more information, check the official website.
