Gamescom 2019: The Yakuza Remastered Collection Coming to PS4

August 21, 2019

Following on from the fantastic remakes Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2, SEGA announced that they would be releasing remastered ports of Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 in Japan on PlayStation 4, allowing fans to get the whole Kiryu saga on one generation for the first time. While a resurgence in series popularity made it likely the games would be released in the West, it was only this week that SEGA confirmed at Gamescom that this would definitely happen. Instead of individual releases, we’ll get all 3 games as a single pack in the Yakuza Remastered Collection.

Given Yakuza 3, 4 and 5’s original releases occurred on PlayStation 3, as opposed to the PlayStation 2 releases of the first 2 games, we’re not getting full Kiwami remakes this time around. Instead, we’re seeing something more akin to a remaster. Each game is being brought up to a 1080p resolution and 60FPS (from an original 30FPS), along with content removed from the original PlayStation 3 releases being restored in this new release. The localisation has also been totally reviewed, with some sections being revised and rewritten.

You’ll be able to get The Yakuza Remastered Collection: Day One Edition exclusively for PlaySttion 4 at retail on February 11th 2020. Digitially, you can preorder The Yakuza Remastered Collection today, with Yakuza 3 available to play right now, Yakuza 4 on October 29th and Yakuza 5 on Febraury 11th.
