Yakuza 0 dated for Western release

Sega has announced Yakuza 0 will be getting a Western release on 24 January 2017.

The game was originally released in Japan last year on the PS3 platform, but the Western release will be exclusive to PS4 and be available both digitally and physically.

Yakuza 0 is a prequel to the franchise, and is set in 1988 in the fictional Japanese province of Kamurocho. Players will assume the role of two different protagonists – Kazuma Kiryi and Goro Majima, the latter of whom was only playable in the spin-off title Yakuza: Dead Souls.

The news coincides with Sony’s PS Plus August 2016 freebies announcement, where Yakuza 5 was named as one of the free downloadable titles for PS3 owners.
