The announcement, that is, not the console itself (ALTHOUGH IF YOU HAVE ONE PRIVATELY MESSAGE US FOR THE SCOOP).
Basically it all happened on NeoGAF. A bunch of dudes/dudettes somehow in-the-know have spilled the beans on one of Microsoft’s worst kept secrets; we’re getting an Xbox One Slim and it’s likely to be revealed at tomorrow’s conference.
As can be seen below, the Xbox One S is a 40% smaller repackaging of the Xbox One you know and love. Almost. In addition to a reduction in size, the system is being supplemented with 4K video output (that’s media, not games), high dynamic range support, a whopping 2TB of HDD storage, a “streamlined controller” and a vertical stand.
Sounds like a good place to start for those hungry to jump on the Xbox One train. Formal specifics, including a release date, will have to wait for Microsoft’s conference.
