Andrew House has confirmed during this morning’s Playstation Meeting that the Playstation 4 Slim is real and is actually coming a lot sooner than expected.

The Playstation 4 Slim, which will retail at $299 USD (likely translating to a RRP of between $399.95 and $449.95 in Australia), sports a slimmer form factor than the current Playstation 4 and will theoretically allow for lower costs going forwards.

The Playstation 4 Slim is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 15th, which is next week, however there has not yet been 100% confirmation that this includes Australia. We’ll update this article once we have concrete confirmation from Sony.

Update: It has now been confirmed that the Playstation 4 Slim will launch on September 16th in Australia and will be available as a $439.95 500GB version or a $509.95 1TB version.
