Xseed Brings JRPGs To Steam

March 22, 2012

Most would admit that when you look at Steam’s game catalogue, you have to say that it’s lacking in JRPGs. You’ve got games like Reccetear, Chantelise and The Last Remnant of course, but releases are far and few between. Xseed Games are looking to change that a little. As reported by RPG Gamer, they’re bringing two games from their popular Ys series to the platform, Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Ys Origin.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana started life as a PC game released by Nihon Falcom in 2005 as a remake of the third game in the Ys series. The game was later ported to PSP, and released in PAL territories in early 2011. The Steam version has just been made available, and will set you back a reasonable $14.99 USD. This version includes new support for Steam Achievements, and is compatible with the Cloud.

Ys Origin was originally released for PC in Japan back in 2006, but never saw an English release. It’s the seventh game in the series, but chronologically, it’s actually a prequel to all the others. The game is receiving a localisation specifically for the Steam release, which is scheduled for May this year.

Xseed released a few screenshots of The Oath in Felghana to accompany the announcement:
