World of Tanks locks its sights on Guinness World Record in Melbourne this weekend

March 12, 2018

Arnold Schwarzenegger is coming to Melbourne this weekend for aptly-named ‘Arnold Sports Festival’, celebrating fitness and a range of different sports, and it looks like World of Tanks is getting in on the action as well.

As part of the ‘Arnold Pro Strongman Australia’, a series of events for professional strongmen, World of Tanks is presenting the ‘World of Tanks PC Tank Pull’. And yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like, as Wargaming have brought in an eight-tonne FV102 Striker tank. As the fourth of the six-event series, thirteen contestants will aim to take out an official Guinness World Record for the ‘Fastest time to pull a tank over 10 metres’. I would settle for moving a tank at all, but that’s why they call these guys strongmen.

The event is to celebrate World of Tanks 1.0, the biggest update the game has received since launch, a ‘completely remastered PC game’ as Alexander de Giorgio, World of Tanks’ Regional Publishing Director describes.

“We have had truck pull events in the past, but this is the first ever tank pull event, so it will certainly be one to watch. Our professional strongman competitors are now gunning not only for the Arnold Pro Strongman Australia title, but they also want the tank pull GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title,” says Tony Doherty, the 2018 Arnold Sports Festival Organiser, and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s business partner.

The Arnold Sports Festival is at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre from 16-18 March, and the Arnold Pro Strongman Australia in which this event will take place will be held on Saturday 17 March at 12pm AEDT.

If you can’t make it this weekend, the attempt will be streamed live at several sites, including https://arnoldsportsfestival.com.au/arnold-tv/  and https://livestream.com/mysportlive and World of Tanks PC Asia Facebook page https://facebook.com/WorldOfTanksASIA/.
