July 10, 2019

Nintendo Australia has confirmed via their official Twitter account that Tetris 99 will be receiving a retail release on September 20 this year.

Tetris 99 is a free online battle royale-style game that sees players verse 98 other players in competitive multiplayer. The game has received a paid DLC pack dubbed Big Block, which adds two offline modes. These are CPU Battle mode which lets players practice their competitive skills offline against 98 bots and Marathon mode where players try to beat their own high scores. A second unnamed DLC pack is planned for release later this year and is expected to add an eight player local multiplayer mode called Local Arena and a two player Share Battle mode.

The retail version of Tetris 99 will include a 12 month subscription for Nintendo Switch Online and both DLC packs. It is currently unknown how much the retail version will cost.

The Big Block DLC is available now from the Switch eShop for AU$15.00. You can also purchase the DLC and remote download it by clicking here.
