Square Enix Delays Next-Gen Version Of Marvel’s Avengers

October 17, 2020

With coming towards the end of the year, it felt like the delays might have been over, but we were sorely mistaken. With only a couple of months left in the year and less than a month until next-gen consoles release, Square Enix has announced that the planned PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Marvel’s Avengers have been delayed to 2021.

The reasoning given is to give the developers at Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal more time to work on the next-gen version of Marvel’s Avengers. Given the somewhat glitchy state the game released in (Check out our review here), it feels like a delay here to make sure a quality version of the game is released is a good idea. Combine that with the game’s recent struggles with a dropping player base, some quality content could help them get the game back into the limelight.

Alongside this announcement was also the confirmation that the planned Kate Bishop update that was coming soon has also been delayed into 2021. That update, titled Marvel’s Avengers: Kate Bishop — Taking AIM, takes place right after the conclusion of the game’s story and also introduces Clint Barton.

Marvel’s Avengers is available now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions coming in 2021. For more information, check out the official website.
