It’s been a while since we’ve seen much of CRYSTAL DYNAMICS’ and Eidos Montreal’s Marvel’s Avengers. We got a glimpse at some new screenshots earlier in the week after the game was confirmed to receive a free next generation upgrade and cross play, but gameplay footage has been hard to hard to come by. That all changes overnight, with the developers releasing two brand new Marvel’s Avengers trailer as part of their Marvel’s Avengers Wartable stream.
The brand new story trailer gave us a view into where the Avengers have found themselves after the earth shattering event caused them to splinter. We see Ms. Marvel seemingly discovering her powers before becoming hunted by the government and villainous forces. After becoming aware of a world-ending threat and a shady set-up that forced the Avengers into hiding, she takes it upon herself to hunt each member down and rebuild the crew.
The next of the Marvel’s Avengers trailers was new gameplay overview trailer that showcased Thor for the first time, in his ‘Once an Avenger’ campaign mission. We also got more details on the game’s villain MODOK, a mutated, super intelligent overlord of AIM. Confirmation of a new mission War Zones came as well, which serve as the game’s team based mission. Up to four players can take to the battlefield together in these missions, but you can also play them solo with AI companions if you’d prefer.
Marvel’s Avengers releases on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 4th, while a free upgrade path PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will be available at some later time. Make sure to watch the Marvel’s Avengers trailers and check out the official website for more details.
