Rhythm Thief Is Coming Soon

April 6, 2012

Do you own a Nintendo 3DS? Do you enjoy rhythm games? Yes, you say? Well, Sega’s upcoming game, Rhythm Thief and The Emperor’s Treasure should be on your radar. The game is set in Paris, and features over 50 rhythm-based challenges, as well as anime-inspired graphics. Rhythm Thief follows the story of Raphael, a young boy who leads a secret double life. By day, he’s your average citizen, but by night he’s a “virtuous thief” who breaks into Paris’ most famous museums to steal pieces of art. He always returns them a couple of days later though. One day, he meets a mysterious violinist named Marie, and ends up running into the superintendent at the Paris constabulary, Vergier. Raphael finds himself running from the law, all the while trying to find his father, who disappeared.

Players will help Raphael avoid museum security guards and police by successfully completing various rhythm-based challenges. Many of the 3DS console’s features will be made use of, with players able to tap the touch screen, push the buttons, work the stylus, and control the internal gyroscope in time to the music. If a challenge is completed, players will be rewarded with medals that can be traded for items that make future rhythm games easier to complete, or bonuses such as music or more games to play. Sega released a story trailer for the game, which you can view below:
