Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory Announced

June 17, 2020

After the years long wait and subsequent release of Kingdom Hearts 3 last year and its RE:Mind DLC this year, you might have been wondering what was next for Kingdom Hearts. While a shift in engine during development didn’t help the development timeframe, surely it would be years before we saw another game in the Disney/Square universe, right? It’s seem that assumptions like that were totally incorrect, with Square Enix Japan announcing Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory overnight.

Thanks to our utter lack of Japanese translation skills, all of the details are not yet clear, but what is clear is that Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory is a rhythm game celebrating the series beloved musical tracks. Sora and co. will take the fight to the Heartless and Nobodies once again, as they traverse musical highways dispatching enemies to the flow of the music. It doesn’t seem to be a simple rhythm game however, with the seeming inclusion of an original story, multiple game modes (including online play) and 3D graphics pointing to a decidedly big game for the genre.

Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory releases for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year. Make sure to check out the announcement trailer below or at YouTube while we wait for more information.
