As with the launch of any new generation of consoles, new games releases look to be rather light in the coming months. After a good launch lineup and a couple of big releases (Immortals Fenyx Rising and Hitman III), delays have begun to drop. First was Far Cry 6, then came Riders Republic and now Housemarque’s Returnal has joined the club being delayed until slightly later this year.

You may remember Housemarque. They’ve developed a plethora of fantastic arcade shooters in the past. Returnal promises to be their biggest game yet, combining narrative adventure, their signature bullet hell gameplay style and cladding it in a roguelike third person shooter wrapper. Its initial announcement trailer was one of the most unique games revealed during the June PlayStation 5 reveal.

Luckily, we won’t be waiting too much longer for the game, with the delay meaning it will now release on April 30th (the same day asĀ New Pokemon Snap) instead of March 19th. The delay was announced via the official PlayStation Twitter account, with the reasoning behind the delay being to give the team more time to polish the game ahead of release.

Now, with Returnal delayed, we’ll be waiting at least two months between it and Destruction All-Stars for big PS5 games, with March becoming a relatively dead space for the PS5, with few confirmed games releasing in the month.
