Immortals: Fenyx Rising Releasing In December

September 11, 2020

Following last week’s announcement that they would once again be holding a Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft has now finally lifted the lid on the game that was once known as Gods & Monsters. As part of the reveal, it was confirmed that the game has now been renamed to Immortals: Fenyx Rising, a detail that was leaked during the week, while we also got our first good look at the game along with a confirmed release date.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising follows the titular demigod Fenyx as they fight to save the Greek gods. As they master the powers of the gods, take on trials and combat mythological beats, they’ll gain the power to take on Typhon, one of the Titans of Greek Mythology.

Developed by the team that brought us Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at Ubisoft Quebec, Immortals: Fenyx Rising is an action game filled with aerial and melee combat and stories inspired by Greek mythology. Think Odyssey, but with a sprinkling of Kid Icarus: Uprising, a smattering of Breath of the Wild and plenty of mythological references. Along with combat, there will also be plenty of world puzzles to complete, from smaller ones up to the Vaults of Tataros.

The game looks to reward exploration, with a dynamic traversal system to keep things interesting. Whether you’re sprinting, riding your horse, climbing mountains of flying through the skies, you’ll always be moving and finding secrets.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising releases for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X on December 3, and will release on PS5 on the launch of that console, which implies the game will be a launch title for the PS5. Purchasers of the PS4 and Xbox One version will also be eligible to receive a free upgrade to a PS5 or Xbox Series S|X version for those systems. For more information, check out the official website.
