Veteran role playing masterminds Obsidian Entertainment have today launched a mysterious countdown website for what we can only assume is their next major project.

As you can see, the teaser doesn’t reveal all that much. A lone ‘4’ sits at the centre of an Ouroboros, subtitled with the words:

What do the words mean? Nothing. The Dirge of Eír Glanfath is sound without form, a lone voice crying out in mourning because it must.

And that’s about it.

However, given the activity and hints on a certain twitter account, it is likely this project is the next major title from Obsidian game designer and project lead Josh Sawyer. Sawyer is perhaps best known recently as the lead project designer for Fallout: New Vegas. In the past, Sawyer has worked on both Icewind Dale titles and Neverwinter Nights 2, and was the original lead designer on the now defunct Black Isle Studios’ Fallout 3 project which was known as Van Buren.

New IP? Dungeon Siege IV? Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to find out what Obsidian is up to.
