Nippon Ichi Are Bringing 3 New RPGs To PS3

March 31, 2012

JRPG fans, rejoice! Nippon Ichi Software America have announced today that they will be bringing three new RPGs to the PlayStation 3 in PAL territories. The three games are Mugen Souls, Legasista and The Witch And The Hundred Knights. Mugen Souls features a free-roaming map, turn based battles, a ‘Moe Kill’ system, and a huge amount of character customisation and growth. The ‘Moe Kill’ technique apparently allows players to turn their enemies into items. Players will also be able to create their own characters. The game will be released later this year. Nippon Ichi released a summary of the game’s setting:

There exists a small galaxy in the universe containing seven worlds, shimmering in seven colors… These worlds exist and act independent of one another. This has allowed them to develop and nurture rich, unique cultures. Then one day, a decree was sent out…

‘I’m gonna make everything in each of these worlds bow to me!’
– The Undisputed Goddess, Chou-Chou

Legasista is a download exclusive game that will be available on the PlayStation Store in August this year. Nippon Ichi describe it as a “dungeon-crawler style survival action RPG”, which will feature randomly generated dungeons, and the ability for players to customise their characters, including their equipment, personalities, and job classes. You can even upload images from your PS3’s HDD, and the game will turn them into characters automatically.

The Witch And The Hundred Knights is due for release in early 2013. The game features high-res, fully 3D environments and characters, as well as a dark fantasy world brought to life by Takehito Harada (who created artwork for Disgaea and Phantom Brave). In the game, being bad is good! Save the innocent or take part in the ransacking—it’s all up to you. Two powerful witches have been battling one another for over a hundred years. Now, the Swamp Witch has unleashed the legendary Dark Knights, and seeks to destroy the Forest Witch once and for all! Players will be given a team of 100 knights to command as they smash their way through the world. There will be multiple weapons and chain attacks on offer to mix things up in this top-down perspective RPG.

Rocket Chainsaw will keep you up to date on any new developments for all 3 titles.
