Gamescom 2019: Marvel Avengers Gameplay Footage Surfaces

August 20, 2019

Finally some solid Marvel Avengers gameplay footage has been released at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. While we’ve seen sketchy footage leaked from E3 2019 of the first mission on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, we’ve had to wait until now to get to see the official Marvel Avengers gameplay trailer that we’ve been desperately waiting to check out.

Join Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk and Black Widow as they battle with evil villain Taskmaster and his army of mercenaries on one of America’s most iconic landmarks. The trailer shows how the singleplayer story will involve switching between Marvel Avengers superheroes on the fly, while we have also learnt that in the game’s multiplayer, players will be able to choose and stick with a superhero of their choice if they so choose.

We have also learnt that players who pre-order Marvel Avengers will gain access to the game’s beta, which will be available first on PlayStation 4.

Rocket Chainsaw has been following Marvel Avengers since its original Captain America shield teaser, and you can read our detailed E3 2019 write-up here.

Lightning strikes, repulsor blasts, ground pounds, shield throws, and spy tech make our heroes quite the team in Marvel’s Avengers. In this tutorial level, the Avengers must defend San Francisco after a mysterious attack threatens the safety of the city.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Leveraging our companies’ combined experience in epic action-adventure storytelling, we’re building a universe that fans will immerse themselves in for years to come.
