Game Freak reveal Long Meowth, Chubby Pikachu and more for Pokemon Sword and Shield

October 17, 2019

Game Freak has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield.

The trailer focuses on new Gigantamax forms for Kanto Pokemon. Gigantamax is a special form that certain Pokemon can achieve when players activate Dynamax. This makes your Pokemon giant during battle, enhances their power and gives them a special G-Max move. The ability can only be used once per battle and lasts strictly for three turns only.

Players with a save file for Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu or Let’s Go Eevee will unlock the Gigantamax forms for Pikachu and Eeevee, respectively. Pikachu’s Gigantamax form has G-Max Volt Crash which paralyses all opponents on the field. Eevee’s Gigantamax form has G-Max Cuddle which causes opposite-gender opponents to become infatuated.

Fan favourites Charizard and Butterfree were also revealed to have Gigantamax forms. Charizard’s new move is G-Max Wildfire which damages all none-fire Pokemon for four turns. Butterfree’s new move is G-Max Befuddle which causes poison, paralysis or asleep status on opponents.

As a special bonus for fans who start playing the game by 15th January 2020, they will unlock Gigantamax Meowth. Meowth’s move is G-Max Gold Rush which confuses all targets and earns you an in-game cash bonus.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are scheduled to arrive on 15th November exclusively for Nintendo Switch. You can check out the trailer below.
