E3 2019: Last Backwards Compatible titles hit Xbox One, classic Rare games receive enhancements

June 11, 2019

In a somewhat bittersweet announcement, Microsoft has revealed (via TrueAchievements) that the Xbox One will receive its final 23 Backward Compatible titles sometime this week.

The main reason these will be the last classic titles to join the Backwards Compatibility line-up is because the project team will now be working to bring backwards compatibility to the next Xbox console, tentatively called Scarlett. It remains unclear how extensive the Backwards catalog will be on Scarlett, but it’s reassuring the company is looking at preserving the previous generations of Xbox gaming.

We have included the list of brand new Backwards Compatible titles below. An interesting note is that Too Human will be offered free to players. The game is notorious for being in development hell for almost ten years, having originally started as a project for the original PlayStation before being shifted to GameCube and then finally Xbox 360.

Also announced on a special E3 episode of Inside Xbox, was that a selection of Backwards Compatible Rare games will be receiving updates to make them Xbox One X Enhanced. This means the titles will receive a resolution boost when played on an Xbox One X console. The titles to receive the update include:
