E3 2018: Forza Horizon 4 announced, heads to the UK, brings seasonal gameplay

June 11, 2018

One of the mainstays of any Xbox E3 Press Conference is, of course, a new Forza title, and this year was no different, bringing the announcement of Forza Horizon 4. The globe-trotting spin-off of the main Forza Motorsport series has now made its way to the UK, bringing with it a new dynamic seasonal system that includes more than just overcast weather (sorry, England).

The seasons will bring with them different environmental effects and gameplay changes, making unique ways to experience each part of the map. An on-stage demo of the game showcased the shared world of Forza Horizon, where other drivers you see on the world map are actual other online drivers, who can be communicated with using a new quickchat feature using the d-pad. The demo, which featured a Nissan Silvia, McLaren Senna, Hoonigan Ford Focus and an offroad buggy all playing together, largely featured the players getting together to get into drift races with each other and do donuts – so largely what you’d expect from what happens when car enthusiasts run into each other in the UK.

Forza Horizon 4 will also feature a 60fps mode on Xbox One X. The game will be released on 2 October, 2018, and will be included as part of Xbox Game Pass on day one.
