Arkane Lyon’s DEATHLOOP Delayed To 2021

August 19, 2020

Console launches are always a relatively light time for new games, especially for brand-new next-generation exclusive games. As far as the PlayStation 5 launch goes, there’s only a select handful of games that have been confirmed for that ‘Holiday 2020’ launch day/window. This includes games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Bugsnax. Now, that lineup has shrunk a bit more, with Arkane’s DEATHLOOP (a PlayStation 5 console exclusive as confirmed in June’s PS5 Games Showcase) delayed to Q2 of 2021.

Announced on Twitter by the studio, Arkane Lyon confirmed that the game would be moved from its original launch window through to the April-June period of 2021. There are a couple of reasons given for the delay, with the first (and currently the most common reason behind delays) is due to COVID, moving to working-from-home arrangements and the impacts that has caused. Arkane Lyon states that getting DEATHLOOP pushed out for Holiday 2020 would have impacted the health of developers at the studio, as well as the overall quality of the game, so delaying it was the right decision. As with any and every game delay, if it means a better and more polished experience, as well as better working conditions for developers, we’re 100% onboard.

DEATHLOOP will now release in Q2 2021 on PC and PlayStation 5. For more information, check out the official website.
