Tiger Woods Is Joining The PGA TOUR 2K Series

March 17, 2021

There is just something that I love about a good golf game. Being a solo sport, as opposed to other team based offerings, there’s a meditative quality that comes along with the experience missing from other games. So, the revivial of the PGA TOUR series with 2K and HB Studio’s PGA TOUR 2K21, was something I was excited for. But one thing was missing. A certain golfer who became synonymous with golf games. Now, that wrong has been righted, with 2K announcing an exclusive deal with Tiger Woods to join the PGA TOUR 2K franchise.

Check out our review of PGA TOUR 2K21 here.

Not too many specifics have been confirmed yet, beyond that the deal includes the rights to Tiger Woods’ name and likeness, with the obvious outcome being those included in future PGA TOUR 2K games. Don’t expect any game name changes, but it’s great to see Tiger Woods back in video games.

Alongside the Tiger Woods news, it was also confirmed that 2K has entered into an agreement to acquire PGA TOUR 2K21 developer HB Studios. No financial details were discussed, but the deal is expected to close by the end of this month. HB Studios President and Studio Head James Seaboyer had the following to say about the acquisition:

“The team’s love and knowledge of golf is immediately evident in our games. We’re thrilled to officially become part of the 2K family and continue development of the PGA TOUR 2K franchise,” said James Seaboyer, President and Studio Head at HB Studios. “Our work with 2K on PGA TOUR 2K21 brought our capabilities and aspirations to the next level, and we can’t wait to show the world what we’re planning for the future.”
