It was technically ‘announced’ a little while ago, but finally we have official confirmation. Direct from a Rising Star Games press release, we have the first details on Deadly Premonition: The Directors Cut.

Re-release of the cult classic Deadly Premonition, which followed the exploits of quirky FBI detective Francis York Morgan investigating the murder of a young girl in a small American town (Getting Twin Peaks vibes yet? Because you should be), The Directors Cut promises to expand upon the original experience with new content and improved presentation. Included in the re-release is:

• A new playable scenario written by Deadly Premonition director Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro.
• HD graphics.
• Reworked control mechanics for improved combat.
• Downloadable content to expand the mystery beyond the original game.

Deadly Premonition: The Directors Cut will release exclusively on PlayStation 3 within the first quarter of next year, both in the United States and Europe. No word on a local release yet.
