Armello announced by League of Geeks

September 20, 2012

Members of an Australian indie game development collective, League of Geeks, have announced their debut title, Armello.

The game, intended for tablets, is a multiplayer card and board game, set in the titular fairy tale kingdom. Four animal clans compete for the throne, currently held by the mad King of Armello, making this sound more and more like Game of Thrones by way of Watership Down. It will be free-to-play, with an economy based on games such as League of Legends. Armello will also be completely 3D, have an expansive meta-game and claims to boast AAA production values.

League of Geeks is composed of 15 developers, many with previous experience in developing for PC and consoles, as well as some world-renowned composers and animators. Right now, in lieu of any upfront payment, the members of the collective are working for a percentage of the game’s profits upon release.

The game is currently due for release sometime in 2013.
