Street Fighter V release date, Dhalsim announced

October 28, 2015

As part of Sony’s Paris Games Week press conference today, Yoshinori Ono has finally revealed the release date for Street Fighter V. The game will launch in Australia on February 16 2016. The final character in the launch line-up has also been announced, with the return of series mainstay Dhalsim to the roster.

Alongside this, Ono also announced that Street Fighter V will have six additional characters added to the initial 16-character roster over the course of next year. It’s likely that at least some of these will be characters datamined from the recent PC beta, including Guile, Balrog, Ibuki, Juri and Urien.

All these characters will be available to players for free thanks to a new unlock system built around an in-game currency called Fight Money that can be earned by just playing the game. Capcom have also committed to ensuring that anyone who buys Street Fighter V will receive all updates and new content for the game for free, marking a huge change from the multiple versions of Street Fighter IV that players needed to purchase to stay current.
