Watch the Extended Cut Nintendo Switch Superbowl 2017 Commercial

February 6, 2017

Today we witnessed Nintendo spending millions of dollars to advertise their new console in their Nintendo Switch Superbowl 2017 commercial. Brand new gameplay is shown from games including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, ARMS, 1-2-Switch, Mario Kart, Splatoon, and Street Fighter in what Nintendo hopes will help boost sales for the March 3 2017 launch which is now just four weeks away.

The commercial fluently switches between every way you can play the Nintendo Switch, while hiding a little easter egg regarding Street Fighter. If you take a look at the coin laundry, you’ll see it’s titled the “Spinning Bird”, a move-set well known to hardcore Street Fighter fans from Chun Li in Street Fighter II.

All titles shown in the commercial (excluding Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) are set to be released alongside the Nintendo Switch on March 3, 2017, which is probably why we didn’t see Super Mario Odyssey or other games due out later in the year. Nintendo’s target audience for the Nintendo Switch Superbowl 2017 commercial was more than a hundred million Americans and therefore they wanted to show what the console has available from day one.
