Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Announced For 3DS + Trailer

September 16, 2012

Nintendo, via Japan’s CoroCoro magazine, have announced that the next game in the popular Pokémon spin-off series will be coming soon to Nintendo 3DS. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth will be released next year in Japan, and introduces 3D graphics to the series for the first time. The magazine showed off images of the game which feature Pokemon from the Unova region seen in Pokemon Black and Pokemon White, with players being given the choice of playing as either Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig, Pikachu or Axew.

The game makes use of the 3DS’ camera, allowing players to take photos of round objects, which are then turned into portals. The portals are called Magnagates, (which is where the game’s title comes from) and need to be unlocked in order to open gateways to new dungeons. Other than that, not much is known about the game. Nintendo released the first trailer for Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth last night, showing off the series’ new look, and various new Pokemon.

There’s been no announcement about a localisation for the game yet, but it’s only a matter of time.
