May 30, 2012

Can’t get enough of Harry Potter? Have a Kinect accessory for your Xbox 360 console? If so, Harry Potter for Kinectis for you. Warner Bros announced the Xbox 360 exclusive earlier today, with the game set for a release later this year. The game will feature scenes from all eight of the Harry Potter films, and players will get to join Harry, Ron and Hermione on a series of adventures, using the Kinect’s motion tracking and voice recognition capabilities to cast spells by performing hand gestures, or by calling out their names. Co-op multiplayer and mini-game modes have also been announced.

Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development at Warner Bros said, “Harry Potter for Kinect will engage Harry Potter fans old and new by bringing them into the wizarding world as truly active participants. Kids and parents will enjoy recreating their favourite Harry Potter adventures, from flying a broomstick in a Quidditch match, to battling pixies and duelling other wizards.”

For the first time in a Harry Potter game, players will be able to create their own cutsom wizard, by using the Kinect’s photo taking capabilities to scan in their faces, and add them to their in-game character.
