Hogwarts Legacy Announced For Current/Next Gen Consoles and PC

September 17, 2020

Rumours and leaks have been swirling for ages now that a new Harry Potter RPG was in development at Avalanch, but as time kept passing, no official announcement appeared. Eagerly awaiting the announcement, while also being frustrated at .J.K Rowling’s continued attempts to kill the brand, the continued silence had us gradually losing confidence in the rumours. Now, finally, Warner Brothers has revealed Hogwarts Legacy, at this morning’s PS5 Showcase.

Set in the late 1800s, Hogwarts Legacy looks to be filled with both familiarity and new discoveries. You’ll find familiar locations and environments, such as Hogwarts itself and Hogsmeade, but there will be a new cast of characters that haven’t been explored in the past. You’ll be able to play as either a Witch or Wizard, hone and grow your skills, master powerful spells, enhance your combat abilities and select companions to face off again deadly enemies. There’s also an element of player choice to this RPG, with missions and scenarios where you’ll need to make choices that determine what you stand for, which definitely sounds like a morality system to me.

David Haddad, President of Warner Bros. Game had the following to say about the game:

Hogwarts Legacy gives players control over their own experience with RPG gameplay unlike anything else in the Wizarding World, which will continue to build fan appeal in the Portkey Games label. Avalanche has brought to life this rich and deep world, full of action-packed magic, as well as a detailed, mysterious story to engage fans and gamers alike.”

Hogwarts Legacy will release in 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. For more information, check out the official website.
