Microsoft today revealed a new Halo Wars 2 trailer introducing a new enemy called Atriox. This brute has a history, and the new Halo Wars 2 trailer explains how he was banished from the covenant. Atriox however defied the covenant, and built an army around him. It’s now up to you, Captain James Cutter, to stop Atriox from destroying the galaxy. Halo Wars 2 is a real-time strategy game created by 343 Industries (Halo 4, Halo 5) and Creative Assembly (Total War), and looks strikingly similar to the first Halo Wars, which was developed by Ensemble Studios, the defunct studio responsible for the Age of Empires franchise. 343 Industries has already solidified itself with Halo and being able to re-make older Halo games, and bringing Creative Assembly’s skill and knowledge with the Total War series to the table, Halo Wars 2 is looking to be a sensational continuation of the franchise, and if you’re wanting to check it out, there was plenty of gameplay footage shown at E3 2016.
Halo Wars 2 is a Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning players can enjoy the game on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Also if you pre-order the digital version of Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition (which includes the season pass), you will get early access to the definitive edition of the original Halo Wars, beginning December 20th, 2016. Although Halo Wars 2 was originally expected to launch earlier this year, the game was delayed until February 21, 2017
