June 15, 2017

It may not have been mentioned in the E3 2017 Xbox press conference, but 343 Studios has just announced the first major expansion for their latest venture Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare.

The new expansion will include a whole new campaign, revolving around the awakening of a very infamous nightmare in the Halo universe: The Flood. Also expect a brand new co-operative mode, two new multiplayer maps, and two new multiplayer leaders.

The new co-operative mode is named Terminus Firefight and is a wave by wave defence mode which sees you and up to two other players fighting against the never-ending waves of UNSC, Banished and The Flood. New items such as barricades and floor spikes will assist you in new defensive tactics

Halo Wars 2 launched on February 21st for Xbox One and Windows PC, and is a Play Anywhere title.  Its first DLC titled Colony launched in April, 2017 and was included in the Season Pass. 343 Studios stopped short of announcing a release date for the Awakening the Nightmare expansion, stating that it will not be included in the season pass, but we expect it will be out this year.
