Grasshopper announce Killer Is Dead

April 4, 2012

Two steps ahead of even their own titles, quirky Japanese developer Grasshopper Manufacture has jumped the gun on the upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw to announced the another game to follow after. The title? Killer Is Dead.

Reported by Andriasang via Famitsu, Killer Is Dead will supposedly be directed by Goichi “Suda 51” Suda himself. If accurate, this will be the first title directed by Suda 51 since No More Heroes and, before that, Killer 7Killer Is Dead was born of an extended partnership with Japanese publisher Kadokawa Games, who is currently working with Grasshopper Manufacture to produce Lollipop Chainsaw.

According to Famtisu’s brief details, Killer Is Dead will be built in the same style as Killer 7 and No More Heroes, though is a sequel/prequel to neither. Players will star as a captive prisoner sentenced to death, looking to break free and kill their assassin. Described as a “Dark Side 007”, the game will be influenced by James Bond themes, including an ensemble of sexy Bond Girl-like women. Gameplay details are thin, though reports indicate Grasshopper is looking at sword fighting mechanics, with new features to separate the title from No More Heroes.
Looking to the future, Killer Is Dead will release some time in 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
