E3 2021: Forza Horizon 5 announced for 9 November, brings series to Mexico

Xbox’s premier racing franchise is moving to Mexico, with Forza Horizon 5 announced at E3 2021, heading to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC on 9 November, and 5 November for early access.

The Forza Horizon series is the open-world counterpart to the track-based Forza Motorsportwhich focuses more on high-performance competitive racing. The Horizon games focus on the ‘Horizon’ driving festival moving from country to country, allowing players to break away from roads, drive across the countryside and compete in a wide array of vehicles across multiple types of events.

Forza Horizon 5 is set to include “lush jungles, historic cities, hidden ruins, pristine beaches, vast canyons and a towering snow-capped volcano,” alongside new ‘Horizon Story’ missions where you can engage with characters. Weather events such as dust storms and tropical storms are also part of the Mexican setting, and the new EventLab gameplay toolset allos you to create custom races, challenges, stunts, as well as a new Gift Drops feature to share custom car creations with the online community.

There’ll be three editions of Forza Horizon 5. The Standard Edition with just the game, the Deluxe Edition with a Car Pass, and the Premium Edition with all that plus VIP membership, Expansions Bundle and Early Access on November 5. If you have a lower edition and want to upgrade, you can also purchase a ‘Premium Add-Ons’ Bundle that includes all the Premium extras.
