Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Leaked

June 21, 2020

Ever since Shawn Layden took to the E3 stage all those years ago to announce that Activision was bringing Crash Bandicoot back, I’ve been watching the franchise with bated breath. Both Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled have been well received remakes of their original games, but so far we haven’t seen any new original games in the series. That might be changing soon, with leaks revealing that a new Crash Bandicoot is in development right now, instead of a remaster of Crash Bash or any of the newer titles by Activision. Titled Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, it also sounds like the game is coming sooner than we might have believed.

The first leak that alerted us to the existence of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time came in the form of a rating for the game listed in Taiwan that was reported on by Gematsu. This leak gave us the title of the game, which is seemingly a reference to how long it’s been since we’ve had a new Crash Bandicoot game, the platforms it would release on, and also its box-art. In the grand scheme of things, it’s a pretty decent leak, all things considered. From there, another leak came up on 4chan (which I personally found on Resetera) that included purported low-res screenshots and a release date taken from a trailer for the game that somebody had managed to get their hands on. Given the number of screenshots included, it seems pretty unlikely that these have been faked. The game looks to be developed by Toys for Bob, who you may remember from Skylanders and Spyro Reignited Trilogy, showing that the game definitely has a good developer behind it.

It Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will release on October 9th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, although we don’t have any official confirmation of this as yet.
