Adventure Time 3DS/DS Announced

May 9, 2012

Though unofficially confirmed a couple of months ago by the good folk at Cartoon Network, today sees the formal announcement of  Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!. An action adventure game for the Nintendo 3DS and original Nintendo DS line of hardware, Adventure Time 3DS can be summed up as…well…the official blurb covers the premise nicely:

“In the first licensed Adventure Time video game, Finn and Jake wake up one morning to find their trash stolen by the Ice King. Jake couldn’t care less about half-eaten bananas, crumpled up burrito wrappers, and old chicken diapers – but when they find out the Ice King is using their stolen goods to construct a Garbage Princess, the heroes embark on a fantastical adventure to teach him a lesson! Journey through the Land of Ooo in an offbeat adventure and discover perilous dungeons and unimaginable treasures, while playing as Finn and Jake in a unique action-adventure experience. “

Sounds like authentic authentic Adventure Time to us.

Adventure Time 3DS is in developed by the talented pixel wizards at WayForward Technologies, best known for Nintendo DS hits such as Contra 4, Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, and Aliens: Infestation, as well as the Nintendo Wii’s A Boy and His Blob and BloodRayne: Betrayal for Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network. Not one to work alone, WayForward is collaborating closely with Adventure Time series creator Pendelton Ward, all to ensure the mathematical adventuring and algebraic action stays true to the source material.

Other details of the project remain under wraps, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see this one appear at E3 2012. In the meantime, check out the place-holder box art.
