Full List of Steam Top 100 Best Sellers of 2016

January 3, 2017

Valve Corp. has today revealed the Steam top 100 best sellers of 2016 in a ranking system where we don’t actually know what’s number one. The system has the top 12 games given a platinum award, the next 12 a gold award, the next 16 given silver, and the remainder given a bronze award. Any award on Steam will help boost sales throughout the following years, so let’s take a look at the Steam top 100 best sellers of 2016:

Fallout 4
DOTA 2
Tom Clancy’s The Division
Sid Meier’s Civilization VI
Dark Souls III
XCOM 2
Rocket League
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Total War: Warhammer
Grand Theft Auto V
No Man’s Sky[/toggle_box]

It’s no surprise that games like Counter Strike: GO and Rocket League continue to dominate sales. however we weren’t sure if No Man’s Sky was going to make the top 12. Do the awards take refunds into consideration, and if so, did less people refund the game than the community gave on? There sure was a lot of noise about poor old No Man’s Sky in 2016, and it will be interesting to see how it goes throughout 2017.

Warframe
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Arma III
Team Fortress 2
Stellaris
Stardew Valley
Call of Duty: Black Ops III
Dead by Daylight
H1Z1: King of the Kill[/toggle_box]

It’s great to see games like Stardew Valley and Dead by Daylight being placed in the same category as Tomb Raider, Doom and Call of Duty. Steam is such a great opportunity for developers to gain fame and reputation, and we love a good success story.

Sid Meier’s Civilization V[/toggle_box]

Launched way back in 2013, Rust continues to sell quite well on Steam. With continued support from Garry Newman and the team at Facepunch, the game has changed considerably throughout its early access period. Could 2017 be the year it moves in to beta? We were also glad to see Planet Coaster stand out above the bronze list given it was only launched in November 2016. We have a feeling it will stick around in the top sellers through 2017 too.

Here it is, the remaining 60 games that made it in to the Steam top 100 best sellers of 2016. It’s great to see the Steam Controller making the list, as well as 2009’s Left 4 Dead 2 which also won the “Better with Friends” award in the 2016 Steam Awards. Given Euro Truck Simulator 2 won two of the 2016 Steam Awards, we’re surprised we didn’t find it higher up in the list of the Steam top 100 this year.
