July 4, 2018

Compulsion Games today confirmed that after weeks of appealing to the Australian Classification Review Board, they were successfully able to get a Refused Classification (RC) decision overturned, pathing the way for a completely uncensored We Happy Few to be released in Australia in August.

In a statement on the Compulsion Games website, the developers stated they, “went to a great deal of effort to get this decision overturned. We Happy Few will be rated R18+ in Australia.” and that they, “are extremely pleased with the decision of the board and excited that our Australian fans and new players will be able to experience We Happy Few without modification. ”

The Australian Classification Review Board originally slapped a RC on We Happy Few due to its drug use, but the game will now instead come with a ratings warning for “Fantasy violence and interactive drug use”.

Rocket Chainsaw previewed We Happy Few at E3 2016, and since then the game has been garnering a cult following due to its somewhat unique Orwell-esque world of forced emotions.

The 100% uncensored We Happy Few will launch on August 10, 2018 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC platforms.
