A new multi-platform Transformers game is inbound and will be the first in the franchise to appear on next-generation consoles.
The game, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, was revealed via the NYC Toy Festival and validates the former appearance of an Amazon UK listing earlier this week.
An IGN-exclusive trailer of the game offers the descriptive tagline: “Will you save the Earth as an Autobot or destroy it as a Decepticon?,” which suggets the player can choose where their allegiances lie in this latest Transformers war.
Curiously, developer High Moon Studios’ name is absent from the trailer despite their attachment to previous Transformers titles. Details are yet to be revealed, though it’s certainly possible an alternate studio will helm the project given High Moon Studios’ recent staff layoffs.
The game, which releases sometime this year, will likely tie-in with the upcoming Transformers: Age of Extinction movie, which will feature the series’ Dinobots on the big screen for the first time.
Transformer: Rise of the Dark Spark is published by Activision and is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC.
